Arbi Aur Kadhi Style Dahi Curry
Crisp taro floating in tangy kadhi-style yogurt gravy, the Sindhi-Awadhi crossover. Restaurant comfort, home kitchen effort — the masala does the heavy lifting. Serve with jeera rice or flaky parathas.
Ingredients
- Yogurt2 cups, whisked
- Ginger Garlic Paste1 tbsp
- Garam Masala1 tsp
- Saltto taste
- Onion2, finely chopped
- Tomato3, chopped
- Green Chili2, slit
- Coriander Powder2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder1/2 tsp
- Vegetable Oil3 tbsp
- Fenugreek Seeds1 tsp
- Gram Flour1 cup
- Red Chili Powder1 tsp
- Taro (Arbi)300 g, boiled and peeled
Optional extras
- Kasuri Methi1 tsp
- Fresh Cilantro2 tbsp, chopped

Fry the onions with a pinch of salt till deep golden; eight to ten minutes, and worth every one.

Stir in the ginger garlic paste and cook a full two minutes.

Tip in the tomato and the ground spices; bhunao until thick, glossy and the oil separates.

Turn the taro (arbi) through the masala with the yogurt, add warm water and bring to a gentle simmer.

Finish with garam masala, a crush of kasuri methi and fresh cilantro; rest five minutes off the heat.
Chef's tip
Whisked yogurt goes in off the heat or it will split.
