
Kottayam Fish Chutney
A non-vegetarian Indian dish in the spirit of Kottayam cooking — Kottayam Fish Chutney brings a angara touch with a classic chutney finish. About 38 minutes from fridge to table.
Ingredients
- Ginger Garlic Paste1 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Tomato2, chopped
- Cumin Seeds1 tsp
- Fish450 g, steaks

- Green Chili1-2, slit
- Fresh Cilantro2 tbsp, chopped
- Lemon1/2
Instructions

Heat oil or ghee in a heavy kadhai over medium heat.

Add cumin or mustard seeds and let them crackle.

Saute onion until golden, then stir in ginger-garlic paste.

Add tomatoes and powdered spices; cook until oil separates.

Add the main ingredient with a splash of water; cover and simmer.

Uncover, adjust salt and spice, and cook to the desired consistency.

Finish with garam masala and fresh cilantro.

Rest a minute, then serve hot.
