A non-vegetarian Indian dish in the spirit of Alleppey cooking — Alleppey Special Bangda Gassi brings a khada masala touch with a classic gassi finish. About 38 minutes from fridge to table.

Ingredients

  • Ginger Garlic Paste1 tbsp
  • Garam Masala1/2 tsp
  • Onion1, finely chopped
  • Tomato2, chopped
  • Red Chili Powder1 tsp
  • Mackerel4, cleaned

Optional extras

  • Curry Leaves1 sprig
  • Lemon1/2

Instructions

    Marinate the main ingredient with turmeric, chili, and salt for 15 minutes.

    Heat oil; fry or sear until lightly coloured, then set aside.

    In the same pan, saute aromatics and spices.

    Return the main ingredient; add gravy ingredients.

    Simmer covered until tender.

    Reduce to coat; finish with herbs or cream if using.

    Serve immediately.
