Gentle simmered fish cake in a fragrant broth, finished with fresh herbs — the korean answer to "something light tonight". About 27 minutes from fridge to table.

Ingredients

  • Saltto taste
  • Garlic1, diced
  • Ginger3 cloves, minced
  • Mushrooms200 g
  • Sesame Oil1 tbsp
  • Stock or Broth1 litre
  • Napa Cabbage300 g
  • Gochugaru1/2 tsp
  • Perilla Leavessmall handful
  • Fish Cake300 g
  • Gochujang2 tbsp

Instructions

    Sweat the garlic in the Sesame Oil until translucent but not browned, about 5 minutes.

    Add the ginger and gochugaru and cook for 30 seconds more.

  3. 3

    Pour in the stock, bring to a simmer, and add the fish cake.

    Simmer gently until the fish cake is just cooked through and the broth tastes rounded.

    Ladle into warm bowls and top each with perilla leaves and a grind of black pepper.
