A festive Indian sweet with deep roots — the kind of recipe passed between hands, not pages. About 50 minutes from fridge to table.

- Ghee3 tbsp
- Milk1 litre
- All-Purpose Flour1 cup
- Sugar1 cup
- Grated Coconut1/2 cup
- Jaggery1 cup
Optional extras
- Golden Raisins2 tbsp
- Almonds2 tbsp, slivered
- Green Cardamom3, crushed
Instructions
- 1
Prepare each component as the tradition demands — doughs kneaded, fillings cooked dry, syrups skimmed.
- 2
Assemble or cook the milk with the spices and sweetness, following the festival rhythm.
- 3
Finish with cardamom and nuts; present it proudly — festival sweets are made to be shown.
Chef's tip
Ghee first, sweetness later — sugar added too early toughens flour and milk solids.
