
Avocado Toast
Classic American avocado toast — creamy ripe avocado smashed onto crisp toast with lemon, salt, black pepper, and a pinch of chili flakes. Ready in minutes for breakfast, brunch, or a light lunch.
Ingredients
- Saltpinch, to taste
- Lemon1 tsp juice (or lime)
- Avocado1 ripe, mashed
- Sourdough Bread2 thick slices, toasted
- Black Pepperfreshly ground, to taste

- Olive Oildrizzle, to finish
- Eggs1, fried or soft-boiled (optional)
- Red Pepper Flakespinch, to finish
Instructions

Toast 2 thick slices of sourdough or good sandwich bread until golden and crisp.

Halve a ripe avocado, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.

Mash the avocado with a fork, leaving some chunks. Stir in 1 tsp lemon (or lime) juice, a pinch of salt, and freshly ground black pepper.

Spread the mashed avocado generously over the hot toast.

Drizzle with a little olive oil and finish with red pepper flakes (or chili flakes) to taste.

Optional: top with a fried or soft-boiled egg for a heartier breakfast. Serve immediately.
Chef's tip
Use a ripe avocado that yields gently to pressure. Toast the bread well so it stays crisp under the avocado. A squeeze of lemon keeps the mash bright green.
