
Paneer Methi Matar
Paneer with peas and fenugreek cream, restaurant menu regular. Mild spice, creamy depth and cubes of golden-white comfort. Plate with buttered rotis and sliced onions.
Ingredients
- Ginger Garlic Paste1 tbsp
- Garam Masala1/2 tsp
- Butter2 tbsp
- Heavy Cream1/4 cup
- Kasuri Methi1 tbsp
- Saltto taste
- Paneer250 g, cubed
- Onion2, finely chopped
- Tomato3, pureed
- Green Chili1
- Turmeric Powder1/2 tsp
- Green Peas1 cup
- Red Chili Powder1 tsp
Optional extras
- Fresh Cilantro2 tbsp, chopped
Instructions

Slice the paneer thick enough to stay proud in the gravy; warm-soak and drain.

Heat butter or oil and fry the onions till golden; add ginger garlic paste and cook out the rawness.

Add tomato and the ground spices; cook till the masala thickens and the oil separates at the edges.

Add the green peas, then the paneer, and turn it through the masala with a flat hand.

Rest off the heat, finish with the kasuri methi, and serve while it's glossy.
Chef's tip
Overcooked paneer turns rubbery — it only needs warming through.
