Munthiri Kothu

🇮🇳 Indian

Kerala's grape-cluster sweet — roasted moong and coconut coins bound in jaggery, fried till the crust clicks. Tiny, intense, and nothing like the syrupy sweets it shares a plate with.

Prep 30 min Cook 20 min Serves 8 Medium

Ingredients

  • Ghee1 tsp
  • Peanut Oilfor deep frying
  • Grated Coconut1/4 cup
  • Jaggery3/4 cup

  • Yellow Moong Dal1 cup, roasted and ground

Optional extras

  • Rice Flour2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. 1

Dry-roast moong dal till toasty; cool and coarsely grind.

  2. 2

Fry coconut pieces in ghee till golden.

  3. 3

Melt jaggery to a thick syrup; mix with dal, coconut and cardamom.

  4. 4
