Chocolate Orange Cookies
Chocolate and orange, the pairing that divides opinion and wins anyway. Crisp at the edges, chewy in the middle, with every bite loaded. Serve with cold milk, coffee, or packed into lunchboxes.
Ingredients
- Butter3 tbsp
- Salta pinch
- Eggs1
- Sugar3/4 cup
- Baking Powder1/2 tsp
- Vanilla Extract1 tsp
- Dark Chocolate1 cup, chopped
- Brown Sugar1/2 cup
- Orange Zest1 tbsp
Instructions
- 1
Set the oven to 175 C / 350 F and line your trays so nothing sticks.
- 2
Sift the dry ingredients — flour, dark chocolate, leavener — into a bowl and whisk briefly.
- 3
Cream butter with both sugars until fluffy, beat in the egg, then fold in the flour mixture.
- 4
Fold in the orange zest last so the streaks and chunks stay distinct.
- 5
Chill the dough twenty minutes, scoop, and bake until the edges are golden and centres soft.
Chef's tip
With butter-based batters, cream until the mixture actually lightens in colour; that trapped air is your rise.
