Chocolate Swirl Rolls
Swirled chocolate rolls, the cinnamon-roll chassis with a chocolate filling. Golden-crusted and generous, with clean slices and no sogginess. Serve warm with cream, custard or a scoop of ice cream.
Ingredients
- Butter3 tbsp
- Salt1/2 tsp
- All-Purpose Flour2 cups
- Sugar2 tbsp
- Dark Chocolate2 cups, chopped
- Brown Sugar1/2 cup
- Active Dry Yeast2 tsp
Instructions
- 1
Work quickly with chilled butter so it stays in visible flakes through the dough.
- 2
Rub the butter into the flour until you have pea-sized crumbs, then bring it together with ice water.
- 3
Chill the wrapped dough thirty minutes to an hour while you prepare the dark chocolate.
- 4
Roll, fill with the dark chocolate and butter, and crimp or fold the edges well to seal.
- 5
Bake hot until the pastry is bronzed and crisp; a cooling spell keeps the filling from running.
