Salted Japanese rice balls wrapped in nori — portable, comforting, and endlessly fillable.

Ingredients

  • Salt1 tsp for hands
  • Rice3 cups cooked Japanese short-grain
  • Nori Seaweed4 sheets, strips

Optional extras

  • Soy Sauce1 tsp optional
  • Sesame Seeds1 tbsp

Instructions

    Cook short-grain rice; fluff and cool until just warm and sticky.

    Wet hands with salted water; scoop rice and gently form triangles or balls.

    Optional: tuck a little salted salmon flake or pickled plum-style filling in the center.

    Wrap a strip of nori around the base.

    Pack for lunch or eat warm.
